Take Heart

What Does God's Word Tell Us?

These are uncertain times.

There is much being said. There are many questions being asked. We certainly understand the need for all of it.

Our hope at Search during this time is to be a resource to you. We want to do that by reminding us that Jesus is the “same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

We have been given the great gift of God’s Word to be an anchor in turbulent times. Julie and Mike Canlis in their study Godspeed offer a simple spiritual practice with God’s Word that can be a helpful centering exercise.

We would like to offer that exercise to you.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33 New International Version (NIV)

When you have a chance, read the passage above one time. Is there a word or phrase that stands out to you?

Read it a second time, and think about how this passage intersects with your life. Ask yourself, why am I drawn to this word? What in my life needs to be met from this word?

Now read it a third time. Listen again for your deepest response. Ask yourself, through this Scripture, is there a good desire dwelling within me?

Maybe write these answers down, or pray them back to Jesus. He is near. He hears you. He cares about you.

God bless,

The Donohues
